“Missaticum” 46cm x 51cm oil on aluminium panel.
This piece was painted over 3 months on and off around my work and family life. It shows a boy in the countryside fixated on his phone. He has climbed up high to try to get a better signal so he can send a text message. He also has his headphones in and wanting to watch videos from social media. With the advancement of technology and the fact that everyone now has smart phones, people rely on them. Even in a beautiful setting one can be fixated in the virtual world and social media. The title of the work is “MISSATICUM” which is Latin for “Something given to a messenger to deliver”. I felt it fitting with the old language, old setting and a young man trying to send a text message.
